a poem seeks me
I feel it reaching into
the bed of my soul
the river mirrors
a green bamboo canopy
boats of red blossom
pygmy owl calling
the forest in all of us
the doves dwell there too
pirogues unmoving
on this perfectly calm sea
the clouds at anchor
the sea in-vitro
is the mother of us all
how warm the water
sleep still in my eyes
the morning comes through my ears
a rooster calling
steelband in the rain
the notes rise up, the drops fall
we are drenched twice over
the sun crests the hill
I open to the new day
and the light floods in
